Dak Lak is located at a preeminent geographical location, in the center of 5 central highlands provinces of Viet Nam, at an average altitude of 500-800m above sea level. It adjoins Gia Lai province to the North, Khanh Hoa, and Phu Yen provinces to the East, Lam Dong province to the South, Dak Nong and the kingdom of Cambodia to the West. The natural area is 13.125,4 km2 and has a population of nearly 1.9 million including 47 ethnic groups living together in peace. The client is temperate with two clear seasons including rainy season lasting from November to April of next year and an average annual temperature is 24oC.

Dak Lak is located at strategic location in socio-economic development space of the Central highlands Region. It is convenient to connect with other Central Highlands provinces through National Highway No.14, 14C and 27; other coastal provinces in South Central Region such as Phu Yen, Khanh Hoa through National No.26, 29. Dak Lak is also easily connected to Ho Chi Minh city and other Southeast provinces such as Binh Phuoc, Dong Nai through Ho Chi Minh highway; The province has Buon Ma Thuot airport which in one of the large and modern airports connecting to Ho Chi Minh city, Da Nang city, Ha Noi Capital, Vinh city, Hai Phong city, Thanh Hoa city, and Chu Lai airport.

Dak Lak province has 15 administrative units including Buon Ma Thuot city, Buon Ho town and 13 districts of Ea H'leo, Ea Sup, Krong Nang, Krong Buk, Buon Don, Cu M'gar, Ea Kar, M'Drak, Krong Pak, Krong Ana, Krong Bong, Cu Kuin and Lak. Buon Ma Thuot city is the economic, cultural and political center of the province and the central highlands region.
